Plantra's 100% Biodegradable Rigid Mesh is made from a unique blend of bio-based materials, including derivatives of potatoes, wood, and corn, combined with a custom biodegradable polymer. The shelter naturally degrades over approximately two to four years, leaving behind only biomass, water, and minerals that nourish soil bacteria and microorganisms. No need to collect the mesh product after use as the mesh will degrade in soil. The Biodegradable Rigid Mesh does not require industrial composting conditions to degrade. Tested for ecotoxicity (UNI EN 13432-200) and soil biodegradability (ISO 17556).
These 12-inch wide diameter mesh tube protectors screen out browsing animals that can kill your seedlings and garden plants. Larger mesh design allows branching through sides but keeps the terminal leader safe and growing fast.
Important Note on Sizing: This product is a pre-formed tube (fixed 12-inch diameter) that is flattened and rolled up for shipping. You do not form the diameter yourself. How to use: Simply unroll and cut the mesh to the height of protection you need. (Example: Cut 4 feet off the roll to create a single 4-foot tall tube).

Plantra Rigid Mesh Tubes can be used with either evergreen or deciduous tree and shrub seedlings. Choose a location that will receive 6-8 hours of full sun, remove weeds from the planting spot and as the old adage goes... if you have a 5-dollar tree, dig a 10-dollar hole!
Sturdy scissors and tape measure required.
NOTE: 12in diameter Rigid mesh requires two support stakes.
For Wild Land Plantings: (4-5+ years) We strongly recommend Trunk Builder® Stakes. For Garden Plantings: Trunk Builder® Stakes are preferred, though other materials may be used.
HINT: When using Plantra Twist-Lock® Ties, bend 3-4 inches of one end into a hook (See figure 7). Hook the looped end through the mesh, around the stake, and back out. Twist 3 times to secure.
