Plantra's founders launched tree tube (tree shelter) use in the United States more than three decades ago. Back then the only tubes available were focused solely on stopping animals from damaging or killing young trees. These early tubes were often small diameter (too small for healthy tree growth), unvented (venting is necessary for CO2 recharge and encouraging proper dormancy) and relied on rigid support stakes (which inhibit normal stem development).
