Sunlight Note: SunFlex is a greenhouse designed for a wide range of sunlight conditions which receive a minimum of 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sunlight per day during the growing season.
Avoid planting seedlings in deep shade. Plants need sunlight and plenty of it. Planting under established tree canopies increases root competition for young seedlings that would grow better in a space of their own.
1. Beaver and Small Critter Protection: The 4 ft Beaver Shield is highly effective for protecting seedlings from beavers and nutria in riparian areas. However, it is below the browse line for deer.
2. Deer Browse Alert: White-tailed deer can easily browse any unprotected tree below 4½ ft tall. If deer are present, 6 ft Buck Shield or 5 ft Doe Shield grow tubes are the preferred heights to ensure the emerging tree top is not destroyed.
Step 1 - Drive Stake: Position the Trunk Builder stake 1.5 - 2 inches from the seedling. Drive until the ground-line marker reaches the soil surface.
Step 2 - Tube Installation: Pop the 4 ft grow tube open and slide it over the top of the stake and seedling, guiding both entirely inside the tube.
Step 3 - Secure Ties: Use the 3 included Twist Lock® Soft Wire Ties. Thread through the holes, around the stake, and twist firmly.
Step 4 - Stem Guides: These tubes feature integrated Stem Guides. Do not use bird net caps; the guides provide superior leader protection and discourage bird entry naturally.
