FAQ's for Forestry & Habitat

Question: How do ventilated Plantra tree shelters protect from herbicide spray used for weed control?

Answer: Weed control is necessary to establish trees. The first thing weed control does is protect the tree from rodent damage by denying the rodents cover to get to the tree. Herbicide spray is one tool that can be used to reduce rodent canopy cover or weed competition, however, you may be nervous about using herbicide spray with our ventilated tree shelters.

Click here (pdf) to view a schematic of our basic ventilated design. The drawing shows a solid section at the base of the tube. One purpose of that section is to block spray. That is the reason we do not ventilate all the way down the tube.
